Stick Hero RPG is a fast-paced side-scrolling action RPG where your early choices (race + class) directly shape how you survive dungeon waves. It’s simple to start, but mastering builds and positioning is what keeps you alive.
Unlike many auto-battle RPGs, this game requires manual aiming, movement, and real combat decisions.
1. Don’t mix builds early
From experience, splitting points between magic and physical damage weakens both. Commit to one path (e.g., full Gunner or full Wizard) for smoother progression.
2. Headshots are game-changing
Landing consistent headshots boosts gold gain significantly. This speeds up upgrades more than grinding extra waves.
3. Jump less, position more
New players jump too much. Staying grounded and adjusting position gives better aim control and survivability.
4. Upgrade survivability before damage spikes
Glass cannon builds feel strong early—but you’ll get wiped by midgame bosses. A bit of HP/defense makes runs more consistent.
5. Reset early if the build feels wrong
Using the reset key early saves time. If your run feels weak after a few waves, restarting is faster than forcing progress.
After several runs, the biggest difference vs. typical RPG shooters is how punishing bad builds feel. Unlike many dungeon RPGs, where you can recover later, here, a weak build shows immediately.
Compared to similar side-scrolling shooters, Stick Hero RPG feels more skill-based than stat-based. You can survive longer with good positioning even if your gear isn’t perfect.
One issue I noticed: early-game balance can feel uneven depending on class choice. Some builds (like ranged-focused ones) are much easier for beginners.
Overall: simple mechanics, but surprisingly demanding if you want consistent wins.
