Game Introduction: What is Territorial.io?

Territorial.io is a competitive online territory-control game where you will start with a small plot of land and then use smart expansion, defense, and diplomacy to grow in power. You will be competing with real players (or AI) on maps that vary greatly, including realistic world maps and custom battle maps.

From the first move you make, your decisions matter. You will have to choose a starting location that is strategically advantageous, build your population, and expand your borders by occupying some neutral land and then launch well-timed attacks against your opponent’s territory.

Territorial.io has extremely easy controls, a simplistic style of gameplay, and is highly replayable, making it one of the most addictive strategy games on the web today.

Controls

Mouse (Desktop) or Touch (Mobile/Tablet) - Select/attack (click/tap), and also expand your territory (click/tap).

Overview of Strategic Gameplay

Select your Initial Playing Location

At the beginning of each match, you will select an initial base location on the map.
A smart position will help dictate your growth early on!

Grow Your Population

Your population determines your strength - the higher the population, the higher your power when conquering other territory.
You will have to balance growing your population with expansion, so you do not have weak defenses in the meantime.

Expand Your Territory

Claim adjacent neutral territories for increased land and resources.
Leverage your ever-expanding strength as you expand outward, but don’t be too aggressive, or you might find yourself vulnerable.

Engage in Combat

Attack weaker players, or defend your territory from a strong neighbor!
Make sure to have an accurate idea of what your troop count is! Engaging recklessly with a stronger opponent could lead to you falling apart.

Single Player Mode – It's you versus the AI.
Multiplayer Mode – Compete against players from different parts of the globe, in real time.
Varied Maps – Compete on your continents, islands, and custom designs from the community to get a different challenge every time.
