Curve Rush IO

Curve Rush IO — Game Overview

Welcome to Curve Rush IO — the ultimate remixed multi-player sand-dune, high-speed rolling ball challenge! Here is an endless runner meets IO battle fest, where you'll control a streamlined sphere as it rolls and rockets down the shifting sands of the desert dunes. Race the clock solo, or in real-time against your friends (or random players), down a shifting desert landscape that rewards skill, timing, and risk-taking.

Curve Rush IO mixes the old-school mechanics of the popular game Curve Rush with a little more strategic and competitive IO features, adding uncertainty, danger, chaos, and social competitiveness. Whether you're going for a best time run or competing with your buddies for a high-time leaderboard finish, each time running down the dunes will be a new danger for your reflexes and nerves.

  • Genre: Endless Runner / IO-Style Multiplayer
  • Setting: Desert dunes, sandy slopes, ...
  • Modes: Single-Player / Multiplayer (real-time)
  • Available On: Web / Mobile (touch, keyboard)
  • Core Appeal: Fast reflexes, high calibers/rewards... but one little slip can take it all away!

Game Play & Mechanics

Controls (PC & Mobile)

  • Mouse (Left click / Hold) — to accelerate, left hold & hold to effect jump
  • Spacebar or Up Arrow (PC)— Hold to boost up, release to soar
  • Touchscreen / Tap & Hold (Mobile) — Touch to charge and let it go to launch

These intuitive controls allow a player to focus on timing/momentum instead of complicated controls.

Game Loop & Dynamics

Start & Momentum Build

You begin on a rolling sandy slope. Hold down to accelerate while you build speed with gravity and slope helping you. The longer you proceed to build momentum, the higher your jump potential will be.

Launch & Airborne Phase

Release at the right moment to have your ball launch into the air. While you are in the air, gravity pulls you back down; you will want to time your descent to hit the slope again in an elegant arc across the slope. You will want to aim and cross the white aerial line, if present, to get bonus points and combos.

Landing & Momentum Retention

The secret to a long run is landing perfectly. If you cleanly land on a slope that is pointed downward, you will retain your speed, and it will also increase your combo. A landing that is harsh or unsmooth will immediately terminate that run!

Multiplayer (IO) Mode

During multiplayer mode, you share the slope with other players' balls in real-time. The aim is to see who can survive the longest and go the farthest. There may be some differences that can include:

  • Collision or bumping mechanics (light contact nudges)
  • Shared rewards/item drops
  • Leaderboard tracking for region / global rankings

Scores & Rewards

  • Distance Score: Length of your run is the measuring stick
  • Aerial Bonuses: Cross aerial lines, chain perfect landings, collect bonus multipliers
  • Coins / Tokens: Scattered along the trajectory - collect to unlock new skins, themes, or boosts
  • Progression Unlocks: Unlocks that occur - new ball skins, terrain skins, weather effects, leaderboard tiers

Things that make Curve Rush IO feel unique

  • Classic vs Competitive - that classic curve rush feeling, but with the extent of IO-play risking and tension
  • Simple, Yet Deep - the mechanics are one-button in style, easy to understand, but require skill to execute, e.g., aerial control, landings, etc.
  • Dynamic Terrain - endless dunes will be different every time you run: shifts, curves, and traps will make every run different for you.
  • Multiplayer - Real Players, Real Tension - own the competition, survive longer than the competition.
  • Customization and Unlocks - skins, themes, environmental effects, and personalization in your run.
  • Cross-Platform - smooth experience on all iterations, mobile or desktop, touch, or keyboard.
